What is Home Electrification??

Your home already has electricity – so what could “electrifying a home” possibly mean? No, the term does not mean bringing electricity to your home — but it does mean switching to all-electric appliances while doing away with fading (and finite) fossil fuel-based energy sources.

Why Go All-Electric?

All over the country, cities and states are passing legislation moving away from fossil fuels like natural gas that we use to cook, heat, and cool our homes, and take care of laundry and dishes. Even though these fossil fuels have been considered “cleaner” when it comes to their carbon emissions, moving to electricity is helping these cities and states reach their carbon goals.

However, there are many other ways you and your home can benefit from updating your appliances as we will get into below, and the good news is that you don’t have to do it all at once. You can make these upgrades as your old equipment starts to show wear and tear, or as rebates and incentives (like the incoming rebates from the Inflation Reduction Act) come into effect.

If you are thinking of making the switch to electric appliances, here are the top electrification upgrades to consider and how you will benefit from them in your South Jersey home.

Home Electrification Upgrades to Consider in South Jersey

Heat Pumps

Nearly half of the energy used in New Jersey homes goes to space heating, and nearly 80% of that heating power was fueled by natural gas. Many homeowners are choosing to start their electric conversion by replacing their heating systems with all-electric ducted heat pumps, because of their efficiency and versatility. Since heat pumps have both heating and cooling modes, they can serve as a replacement for both your heating system and central AC. They also come in ductless models called ductless mini splits.

Heat Pump and High-Efficiency Tank Water Heaters

Heat pump water heaters leverage the same energy efficient process as heat pumps and ductless mini splits, warming the water in your tank using the existing heat in your home’s air. A heat pump water heater is as much as four times more efficient than traditional electric resistance or natural gas water heaters!

Electric Panel Upgrades

As your home transitions to requiring more electricity use than fossil fuels, you will likely need to upgrade your electrical panels to handle the load. This is a relatively simple process, but getting it right from the get go will set up your home for success when it comes to both your immediate and future electrification upgrades.

Energy Efficient Home Improvements

After all this upgrading to using electricity, you’re going to want to make sure your home isn’t hemorrhaging all that energy thanks to inefficiencies in how your home is performing. An airtight seal, proper insulation, and other weatherization upgrades will keep your heat inside during the winter, the sun’s heat outside in the summer, and reduce how much overall electricity your home is using throughout the year. Bovio Rubino Service can assess your home performance using a home energy audit.

Applications for the 2026 Bovio Rubino Service Young Women’s Leadership Conference are Live

South Jersey Rising Junior and Senior High School Young Women are Encouraged to Apply

Voorhees, New Jersey – April 1, 2026 – Young women going into their junior and senior years of high school who are thinking about their futures are encouraged to apply to attend the 2026 Bovio Rubino Service Young Women’s Leadership Conference on Wednesday, July 15 in Voorhees.

The application to attend the Young Women’s Leadership Conference is now live and available through Friday, May 1 by midnight. The Conference is part of “LeadHERship in ’26,” this year’s Bovio Rubino Service community cause which “seeks to advance the opportunities of young women through career readiness, entrepreneurship, community betterment and a personal health and wellness mindset.”

Speakers, workshops and discussions are part of the one-day Conference in July. The opportunity to present an original idea that betters the community after the Conference will be presented to the Conference attendees.

Investing in young women is an idea close to the heart of Bovio Rubino Service president Angela Rubino Hines, a Mom of two young women and a leader amongst very few women in the HVAC and Plumbing service industry. In 2025 Hines was named one of the country’s “Top 12 Women in HVAC” by ACHR News. While she’s humble about the success she has achieved it inspires her to encourage the next generation of women leaders.

“We look forward to investing in young women this year at our Conference, through creative programs with our team members and through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. ‘LeadHERship in ’26’ is our way of giving back and inspiring the next generation of women leaders right here in South Jersey where we live and where our customers live.”
